At the beginning of this summer, when camp life was a lot less busy, we took a little trip to the lake! I have been meaning to post some pictures from our trip because it was such a gorgeous day and a wonderful time as a family. So, now I’m playing catch up and posting a bit late. But hey! Better late than never!
Willow Springs Lake is located on the Mogollon Rim, which is about a 20 minute drive from our house. I am so thankful to have this lake so close by! I’d have to say my favorite part of summer is swimming, so this is an incredible blessing! Before we moved here, we lived 5 minutes away from a beach on Lake Erie, so I figured I would struggle being in Arizona…which I, then, thought was a complete desert. It turns out that Arizona is a gorgeous state (I have yet to see an actual desert) and we have this beautiful lake right up the road! So, of course, we had to have our usual picnic! I’m starting to realize we go on lots of picnics! It’s kind of our thing. I love it!
The water was still a little too cold, so Ryan and I took turns hanging out with Vivian. Finally, I braved the water while Myra sat on the rocks cheering me on to go out further! After a while, I got her to join me. I love that she loves swimming!
What’s a lake trip without a typical dad picture. I’m out there freezing in the water while he’s just laying around in the sun! This is usually how we find Ryan on our lake trips! And with Myra’s upside down sunglasses…don’t ask me. She likes them that way!
There you have it! What a great way to start our summer! We have been to the lake one other time with Uncle Mike and Aunt Ali, but hopefully we will take another trip soon!
Where is your favorite spot for your summer day trips? What are your plans for the rest of the summer?
