Last Friday, the girls and I flew to visit my family in Pennsylvania…by ourselves! After a long day of cancelled flights, maintenance issues, and multiple delayed flights, we finally made it! So, the last few days have been all about adjusting to the time difference and recuperating from our travels.
We have a whole list of summer activities we want to do on this vacation but, of course, every day has rain in the forecast! But since we have been sitting around the house so much, we just had to get out and do something! My parents told me all about this adorable cupcake café so we decided to check it out.
Myra so was excited! We asked her where we were going and she exclaimed, “Cupcakes!” We got in the car and drove to the café…it was closed. I didn’t even think about checking if it was open and I totally forgot about the weird hours of local places! Myra was so sad when we told her we weren’t going after-all, so we had to think of something to make the trip seem a little less pointless.
To be honest, we all felt pretty bummed. Our tummies had hopes for cupcakes and we felt so let down. We headed to Zummo’s Café and grabbed some coffees, bread pudding, a few cookies, and a scone. We sat at the table in the window and chatted.
Here is a picture of my parents. Aren’t they the cutest? They are seriously two of the best grandparents two little girls could ask for!
Ya know, these are the times that we least expect to be fun, but end up being so special. I fed Vivian as we ate our treats. Then, we headed outside. My mom snapped some pictures as we walked and smelled the flowers. We didn’t do anything too exciting…we just laughed and enjoyed each other. Here are some pictures of our gloomy day adventure.
It is easy to feel frustrated about canceled flights, upset about the weather (we left 90 degrees and sunny), or bummed about delayed plans. But there is so much laughter and beauty in these unplanned moments. We are thankful to be here in Pennsylvania with “Momma and Boppa” and are looking forward to sharing our adventures here with you!
Can you remember a time that you felt frustrated but it ended up better than you expected?
