Vivian will be one this Wednesday! Wait, what?! Did I say that right? Yep! ONE!
I can’t even believe how fast this year went! It feels like it was just yesterday that I was walking around with a massive tummy hoping she would arrive early. Finally, 3 days overdo, she made her grand entrance! And, let me tell you, it was grand! I will share more about her birth story this week because it is a good one!
Since her actual birthday is in the middle of the week and so close to Christmas, we decided to celebrate a little early! On Saturday, when the weather was in the 60s, we made our very own Winter ONEderland in our home to celebrate our sweet, winter one year old! Even though it didn’t feel much like winter, it was so much fun hanging snowflakes and filling up on homemade hot chocolate. Yum!
I am not much of a decorator but I was thrilled with how this party turned out! I found some ideas on Pinterest and then made them my own. Here are some photos of Vivian’s special day!
For the hot chocolate bar, we had some homemade snowflake marshmallows, crushed candy cane, whipped cream, and crème filled dipping wafers to make our homemade hot chocolate that much better!
We served a few simple snacks: veggie tray, cranberry barbecue meatballs, snowflake peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (for the kids), and my favorite, the snowman cheeseball!
Lots of people came to celebrate our sweet Vivian. When we started singing “Happy Birthday”, she was a little confused but sat so daintily. This is what she did while we sang…hands folded and probably thinking we all were crazy!
I always get excited for the cake eating part of the party. I figured Vivian would be a mess but she was actually pretty neat! With all the eyes on her, she didn’t dig in right away. I think she was purposefully being on her best behavior…and a little bit of a show-off! When Vivian finally realized that the cupcake was delicious, I love how she decided to dig in!
All in all, it was a really fun day. For once, I actually enjoyed planning a party and putting it all together! Vivian even had a blast! I think she loved all the attention and she certainly loves all the presents!
Thank you to all of our church family and friends who came to celebrate our sweet little Viv! Also, thank you to Poppa Morter who was our family representative! It meant so much to our girls and to Ryan and me that you came to shower us with your love. We are beyond thankful for all of the people that made this day so special! Happy birthday, Vivian!
